Over the weekend we got to see the newest live action Scooby Doo movie. This is another collaborative effort between Warner Brothers and Cartoon Network where the movie is not released in studios but directly to television - Cartoon Network. This is the same distribution model that was used with the prior live action film - Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins. Like the prior movie, the same cast returns. Of course there is wide range of guest appearances.
In Curse of the Lake Monster, the gang is set to work at a country club during their summer break from school. The newly established country club was built and being ran by Daphne's uncle. While good intentions abound, it does not take long to get involved in mysterious happenings.
The movie strays a little from the traditional formula and roots. And, I feel that these movies are a little more campy than the live actions featuring Freddie Prinze and Sarah Michelle Gellar. I could certainly do without the short musical at the end of the movie. All in all, it is a fun of a Scooby Doo movie. As with everything Scooby Doo, I watched it and laughed with my kids. If you are looking for fun entertainment with the kids, this one gets 3 paws up.
